National Grief Awareness Week 2022
This year National Grief Awareness Week takes place between 2-8 December.
The campaign hopes to try and normalise grief and get people talking about this typically uncomfortable subject on a national platform.
This annual national event is driven by The Good Grief Trust, the UK’s leading umbrella charity, bringing all UK bereavement services, support organisations and helplines together under one central database. Offering early signposting to a choice of support for both the bereaved and those working with them.
Their vision is to raise awareness of the breadth of support we have in the UK. Currently The Good Grief Trust have approx. 800 support services and support organisations, groups and services offering tailored help for any bereavement, anywhere in the UK. There are vital support services in the community that are often not known by the bereaved or those working with them. They also aim to reduce the postcode lottery across the country in delivering a uniform standard of bereavement support.
In Leeds, the week is supported through Leeds Bereavement Forum, in partnership with the Swan Song Project, Good Grief Guiseley and Full Circle Funerals. There are a number of events taking place throughout the week:
